FLAMES ANNOUNCE CHRIS BAROCAS AS DIRECTOR OF GOALKEEPING

NY REDBULLS ACADEMY GOALKEEPER COACH JOINS FLAMES STAFF

BRANDON, FLORIDA (January 14, 2019)---West Florida Flames is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Barocas as our new Director of Goalkeeping. Barocas comes to West Florida Flames after most recently serving as Goalkeeping Academy coach at the New York RedBulls. 

“After Ryan Thompson’s announcement to go coach in the pros at Austin FC, we made a national search to acquire a top-level goalkeeping coach that has proven to get players onto the next level. We are extremely pleased that Chris has decided to return to Florida and be part of our West Florida Flames Family,” said Flames Director of Soccer, Jorge Zavala. 

As a Goalkeeper coach, Barocas brings a wealth of knowledge in the position. With an expertise in developing goalkeepers that have moved onto play NCAA D1 soccer and for US Soccer Youth National Teams. 

Prior to moving to the RedBulls, Barocas was the goalkeeper coach for USLPro Orlando City B, as well as, a staff Goalkeeping coach for US Soccer U16/17 Girls National team. He is a staff member and goalkeeping instructor for United Soccer Coaches. 

My best work is done when I am around good people in a positive environment and when looking to return to Florida, I knew the Flames would be high on my list based on my previous experience with Jorge Zavala.  The club, Jorge, and myself have a very similar outlook on soccer and Goalkeeping in particular and I am excited to join the staff and begin working with the GKs,” said Barocas.  

Chris holds a BA in Sports Management from Averett University, an Advanced National Diploma and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma from United Soccer Coaches, a USSF National ‘C’ License and is a candidate for the USSF ‘B’ License in 2019.
